Burdened by my thoughts,
Haunted by my dreams,
I hastily try to escape,
from the prison called reality.
Searching for a door,
Praying for a miracle,
I suddenly realize,
There's nothing but blackness.
Void of any lights,
Deaf of any sounds,
I foolishly fight reality,
with my broken dreams.
Striking with my pleasant memories,
Guarding with my ephemeral wishes,
I finally understand that it's a lost war,
for fate and karma are both against me.
Forced back into jail,
Chained again with shackles,
I see two familiar prisoners-
my heart and soul.
Harsh but real,
I understand the truth;
Yearning for freedom is meaningless-
There
What's going on?
I can't breathe.
Air is everywhere,
But somehow, it evades my
needy, greedy, lungs.
I try to swim,
but I'm drowning in this sea,
in this ocean of air.
I'm choking,
on my sadness, my pain, my agony.
Who knew that
these intangible things
could be so real.
I'm here,
but I feel invisible.
Empty.
Only a shell with a mask,
a mask beneath my flesh,
beneath my fake smile.
I try to run,
but the ground collapses under me,
and I plunge into the earth.
I try to fly,
but the sky rejects me,
and I fall into the clouds.
I try to swim,
but the water consumes me,
and I disappear into the waves.

Everyone has the ability to dream. Most of us become blind when we lose and abandon hope, but the few of us who persevere through the darkness will ultimately gain the clairvoyance needed to strive and achieve our dreams. Those few people are the ones who will change the world.
